Building Controls Specialist

We are seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of Building Controls Specialist. The Building Controls Specialist will support CEC customers across West Texas and New Mexico.


  • Programs databases, for all supported control systems, to meet specified sequences of operation and equipment manufacturer’s recommendations in accordance with CEC standards and contract documents.

  • Advises project manager regarding system deficiencies and/or customer requests and advises appropriate building intelligence.

  • Communicates regularly and efficiently with office personnel and project managers on job status.

  • Performs calibration and check-out of Control Systems, and ensures that specified sequence of operation and commissioning obligations are met.

  • Ensures that CEC is compensated for all work that is performed outside contractual obligations.

  • Instructs client's personnel on operation and maintenance of temperature control systems and energy conservation routines.

  • Assists with the preparation and delivery of graphical user interfaces when required for projects in accordance with CEC graphics standards and contract documents.

  • Advises project manager regarding system deficiencies and/or customer concerns and advises appropriated Building Intelligence personnel.

  • Provides information to update drawings and keep records of equipment for as-built documentation.

  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Minimum two (2) years tech school and three (3) years temperature Control System start-up, checkout, and service experience, OR five (5) years temperature Control System start-up, checkout, and service experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, control systems, building automation systems, electrical systems, energy management systems, engineering, installation, and construction procedures.

  • Solid networking and computer skills with troubleshooting and problem solving ability.

  • Possess good leadership and communication skills (written and verbal).

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to interact well with people to include customers, department managers, engineers, sales personnel, and service and control technicians.

  • Ability to climb ladders and drive a company vehicle.

  • Available and able to, on rare occasions, perform warranty, after hour, emergency and maintenance service on installed systems.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

  • Will be required to pass a background check and drug test.
